The Government of the Republic of Maldives strongly condemns the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, particularly the targeting of civilians, healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure, which have resulted in the loss of innocent lives, including women and children. Such actions constitute blatant violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
The Government of Maldives calls on Israel to fully comply with its obligations under international law and to uphold the ceasefire agreement. These continued violations undermine the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and threaten the path towards de-escalation.
The Maldives reiterates its call for the full protection of civilians, medical facilities, humanitarian personnel, civilian infrastructure, and for the immediate, safe, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout the Gaza Strip. The Maldives also calls on the international community to take immediate and decisive action to ensure respect for international law and to support efforts towards a permanent ceasefire.
The Maldives reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people including their right to an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
