The Government of the Republic of Maldives strongly condemns the Israeli rejection of the Road Map for completing the implementation of U.S. President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. The Maldives also firmly rejects Israel’s opposition to the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.
The Government of Maldives considers this decision to be contrary to the objectives of the Comprehensive Plan and to undermine ongoing international efforts to end the conflict and achieve a peaceful and sustainable resolution. The Maldives recognises the significant diplomatic efforts undertaken by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Türkiye, and other international partners, which led to the acceptance of the Road Map by the Palestinian side.
The Maldives calls for the Comprehensive Plan to be implemented fully and without delay in order to alleviate the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, restore security and stability facilitate reconstruction and recovery and create the conditions necessary for lasting peace based on international law.
The Maldives reiterate its steadfast and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
