Ambassador of the Maldives to Japan presents Credentials to the Emperor of Japan

Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan, His Excellency Ahmed Mahloof presented his Letters of Credence to the Emperor of Japan, His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to Japan, at a ceremony held this morning at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Following the presentation, His Majesty the Emperor welcomed Ambassador Mahloof and congratulated him on his appointment, and wished him success in undertaking his duties.

Ambassador Mahloof expressed gratitude and conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from the President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, as well as the Maldivian people. The Ambassador also expressed his commitment to further strengthening the existing bilateral relations and close cooperation between the two countries.  

The Maldives and Japan established formal diplomatic relations on 14 November 1967. Next year will mark 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

Ambassador Mahloof was accompanied to the ceremony by Deputy Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Adil and Second Secretaries Ms. Hawwa Samha, Ms. Aminath Raziyya, and Mr. Ashraf Ali at the Maldives’ Embassy in Japan.
