Maldives and Ethiopia sign bilateral Air Services Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding

The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia signed a bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the provision of air services today, marking an important milestone in bilateral relations between the Maldives and Ethiopia and an important step in strengthening cooperation in the field of civil aviation.

The ASA and MoU were signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Maldives by His Excellency Mohamed Ameen, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, and on behalf of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia by Mr. Yohannes Abera Belete, Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority.

The signing of the ASA and the MoU is expected to enhance air connectivity between the Maldives and Ethiopia, while supporting closer cooperation in tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges. The two agreements represent an important step in expanding the Maldives’ aviation connectivity and engagement with the African States.
