The newly appointed Non-resident Ambassador of Portugal to the Maldives, His Excellency João Manuel Mendes Ribeiro de Almeida paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Her Excellency Iruthisham Adam. The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam congratulated Ambassador Ribeiro de Almeida on the presentation of his Letters of Credence to the President of the Maldives and expressed hope to enhance relations between the two countries on areas of mutual benefit in the coming years.
Ambassador Ribeiro de Almeida thanked the Foreign Minister and offered his assurances that he would work to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Portugal and the Maldives during his tenure.
Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Sheryna Abdul Samad, Secretary Her Excellency Dr. Hala Hameed and Deputy Desk Officer, Ms. Khadeeja Aufiyau.
