The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Hamad Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sanad Al-Dosari, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Iruthisham Adam, following the presentation of his Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu earlier today.
At the outset of the meeting, Minister Iruthisham conveyed sincere condolences of the Government and the people of the Maldives to the brotherly people of the State of Qatar on the passing of the former Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Minister Iruthisham congratulated Ambassador Al-Dosari on his appointment and expressed confidence that his tenure would contribute to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations between the Maldives and Qatar.
During the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed the Maldives deep appreciation for the generous support extended by Qatar over the years. She expressed gratitude to the late His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Amir, for his invaluable contributions to the development of Maldives. The Minister also Highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations and reaffirmed the shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
Both the Minister and Ambassador exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East and emphasised the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting lasting peace, security, and stability in the region.
Foreign Minister Iruthisham was accompanied by, Secretary Her Excellency Dr. Hala Hameed, State Minister His Excellency Abdullah Hameed, Additional Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha, Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema, and Assistant Director Mohamed Shujau.
